Marlene Kurz, curator
Marlene Kurz (born 1992 in Pirmasens) lives and works in Zurich. She studied art history and German language and literature at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, and received her master’s degree in art history and curatorial studies at the University of Bern. She has participated in workshops at institutions such as the MET in New York and the Kunsthaus Glarus. Her research focused on the concept of repair in contemporary art, examining it both as a craft practice and as a post-colonial concept of resistance. Marlene Kurz has worked for the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, the Institute of Art History at the University of Bern, and Hauser & Wirth, among others. In 2023, she co-curated an exhibition project at Kunstverein Last Tango in Zurich and at Fundaziun Nairs in Scuol, which explored the ambivalent aesthetics and unsettling aspects of cuteness. More recently, she initiated a performance program in Zurich in collaboration with Hauser & Wirth and the Zurich University of the Arts.
